Intervention Overview
Our founders have worked with other highly qualified clinicians to develop a unique 12-step model of EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) for use in Root To Branch's initiatives. Within our 12 session model, we will be able to focus on an acute event, with the goal being a reduction in symptoms, but also an increase in “resources”, or tools for coping with the trauma response. We have worked extensively with EMDR trained clinicians, we have gathered research and undergone specialty trainings to support the development of this specific model from initial intake to discharge; ensuring we are not only addressing the immediate concerns to relieve suffering, but providing connection to ongoing care as needed.
All of the providers working with clients through our 12-step model are vetted to ensure competency in EMDR, including being at a certified level or higher in their training, and/or under consultation of seasoned clinicians to provide guidance as needed. An important feature of EMDR that we hear as clinicians is remaining “true to the model”... remaining true to the evidence-based practices that bring about so much hope and relief. We ourselves are applying for research grants to put similar evidence around our 12-session model for each population served so that this model is able to eventually be scaled to other well-vetted EMDR providers across our state or potentially our country.
We hope this can be a resource not just for our community, but for communities everywhere.
